How do I find and change DNS records in my domain registrar's control panel?

I bought a domain name and a hosting provider has told me to 'point an A record at their IP address' so my website goes live. This is my first time touching DNS.

Guidance on where DNS settings usually live in a registrar's dashboard and how to add or edit an A record safely.

My registrar's control panel has sections called Nameservers, DNS Management, Forwarding, and Glue Records, and I'm not sure which one I need. I'm worried that editing the wrong thing will break my email, which already works on this domain.
